Located on the Yellowhead Highway at the mid-way point between Edmonton, Festival City, and majestic Jasper National Park, Edson is the Slo-Pitch Capital of Canada.
In 2011, Edson will celebrate its 100th Anniversary as a town. A gigantic celebration is currently underway which will include live theatre, choirs, and dance performances, local arts displays, curling bonspiels, hockey, golf and soccer tournaments, a trade show, rodeos, a Fire Fighter’s Combat Challenge, Provincial Legion Convention, parades, a Sidewalk Jamboree, Kin Slo-Pitch Tournament during the August long weekend and for the first time in Edson and a performance by the world famous Ukrainian Shumka Dancers from Edmonton.
The 10-month celebration will culminate during the weekend of September 21-24, 2011 with the Celebration of 100 years and the Homecoming. The weekend will feature an awards presentation night, as well as homecoming supper and ball. The 24th wraps

up with a performance of the outstanding Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, which will proudly be celebrating their 60th anniversary. The music of the evening will portray the last 100 years.
